Innocence

There is nothing worse than innocence lost…
There is no higher price,
There is no greater cost.

Innocence lost is not a one time thing…
Her aspects are many and therefore,
So are the disappointments her loss brings.

From childhood through elderly age…
Innocence and the lack thereof, becomes a gage,
Clearly indicating the choices we’ve all made.

Innocence touches every aspect of one’s life…
Things and people we’ve done wrong,
As a result of losing the innocent desire, to do right!

Innocence wasted is by far the greatest shame…
As witnessed by shattered people,
Unwilling or unable to see their need for change.

Thus if you want her account to be paid in full…
Learn from your mistakes,
And in time God will make you whole!

Artist's Description

I guess this was inspired by seeing so many people that continue to suffer needlessly, but because they refuse to learn from their past mistakes, the cycle remains sadly unbroken!
