Orphan Spirit

Where does it come from this endless sense of loss…
That haunting sense of being of no value no,
Not even worth the time your edification would cost.

An “Orphan Spirit” if we were to give this feeling a name…
It’s but the fruit of all the emotional indifference,
Wrought by those who see people,
As just a means of great personal gain.

Orphans endlessly striving to find some level of acceptance,
With those thought to be spiritual peers…
Hoping to connect yet only finding the success of others,
Is really an elitists greatest fear.

Spiritual elitists is not how God meant for us to be…
Rather joint heirs sharing the spirit of adoption,
As equal members caring for and building up,
His eternal family.

Artist's Description

This was inspired by a book I’ve been reading entitled, “The Spirit of Elijah” by Robert I Holmes. I found his comparison to neglect in the natural by parents and or mentors to the “neglect” that “happens in ever level in Institutional Christianity” to be very enlightening!
