The Good Book

Weathered by life and all the years gone by…
One can only imagine how life looked through his eyes.
There he sits with a hat to warm his head,
And glasses thick, such an elderly man…
With nothing as valuable as the good book in his hand.

A perfect picture of age adorned by grace…
And the years, though they’ve been many,
Still he earnestly seeks his Savior’s face.

Surely he who has lived so long…
Has had his share of rights and wrongs.
Yet what manner of man is he…
How many lives has he touched,
How many souls has he helped set free?

And so his elderly witness might be as simple as this…
Faith in God is a commitment,
By which all would do well, their lives too give!
