I have over 30 years’ experience in the management and implementation of international aid development projects, particularly in post-conflict environments and countries with transitional governments, such as Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan and Darfur, Afghanistan, Kashmir, Pakistan, Iraq, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Georgia, Kosovo, Kurdistan, Rwanda, Uganda, and Nepal. I’ve also worked in Botswana, China, Bangladesh, India, Ethiopia, Kenya, Mauritius, Mongolia, Papua New Guinea, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Vietnam, and Cambodia. I evaluate international programs and provide recommendations to donor countries, usually for USAID, AusAID, and the European Commission. I also consult on education, health, poverty reduction, peace-building and conflict mitigation, human rights, and countering child labour, as well as data quality and financing models.

During my overseas missions I take photographs of people in communities, often in remote and isolated places.

I have also written four novels and a book of poetry (available on Amazon.com and other online book stores in softcover and Kindle versions):

Similar But Different in the Animal Kingdom (2017)
The Shortness of Life: A Mongolian Lament (2015)
The Komodo Verses: Dragon Poems (2012)
Liberia’s Deadest Ends (2012)
Bardot’s Comet (2011)
Kashmir on a Knife-Edge (2010)
The Sudan Curse (2009)
