The Old Cedar Hill Cemetery, established 1792. In Saint John, New Brunswick, fog is pretty much a daily occurance. The only question is – how long will it last? I was photographing stones on a beautiful sunny day – then the fog rolled in. I watched it coming…. and I HAD to take a photo! Welcome to Saint John!!

Located on Lancaster Avenue, the Cedar Hill Cemetery was established in 1792 – just nine years after the arrival of the United Empire Loyalists.

Many famous New Brunswickers are buried here. Charles Gorman is buried here – even though a cenotaph for him sits in King Square in uptown Saint John.

The Paris Crew shocked the world when they defeated the London Rowing Club and won the World Rowing Championship in 1867. The four crew members, Robert Fulton, Elijah Ross, George Price, Sam Hutton, plus their manager, Sheriff James A Harding, are all buried here.

William Boggs was the oldest United Empire Loyalist. He died at the age of 104 on May 18, 1838. He was buried in the Cedar Hill Cemetery, as were many other Loyalist families.
