Bluets – New Brunswick, Canada
Plant: low-growing plant with tiny stems and leaves
Flowerheads: less than a 1/2 inch wide are pale blue with yellow centers
Blooms: April-July
Habitat: open areas with full sun
Distribution: Eastern USA and most of Canada
Bluets. (Houstonia caerulea) Delicate, but small perennials, they are a low-growing plant that grow in clumps and spread by slender rhizomes. The thin flower stalks may be from 1-3 inches or more tall. The flowers are less than a 1/2 inch wide are pale blue with yellow centers. They are common in lawns, clearings and forest margins throughout the USA and Canada.
