This is a collection of some of my favourite paintings created over the past ten years up to present time. Many of these intricate designs can take years to develop then paint, while others flow quickly onto the paper or canvas.
These designs are an expression of my sense of place and belonging in my country of birth, Australia, intertwined with the symbols and patterns of my Celtic heritage. There is an ongoing conversation with the viewer to appreciate and care for the natural environment that cares for us.
’Artist’s Plight’ is a commission from 2010 using the words from a fax sent by a disgruntled artist to a London magazine in 2004. The flowers and birds represent the diversity of artists and their work, the lyrebirds being the shy artists happy to exhibit but not to show their faces, the sulfur crested cockatoos represent the ‘middle men’ of the art world.
