“Well since what’s said here, stays here, I wanted to maybe open the floor about a recent homework assignment. This is my third semester and things are taking on a new tone for me.”
.
ABLE RESPONSE
.
“? Serio ?
.
“Ya tu sabes…so we have this assignment based on current events, and we’re asked to pick a commercial, then analyze it. The overall gist of this, is to help our school promote themselves better.”
.

.
“You know, that is interesting…and being that we’ve gotten acquainted over the past 6 months I’m a little more than excited to see how you tie this into recovery.”
.
“Well, I picked a beer commercial, but I take a different spin.”
.
.
(BOTH COUNSELORS IN UNISON)
.
“OH!”
.
“If this stuff is being sold, and on sale; How bad could it really be? I mean, if I drink water, there’s only so much my body will take, before I become sick. Which leads me to believe it’s the same for alcohol. So when I really consider this, I come to find that it makes good sense to know myself first.
.
.
That’s what these meetings are about aren’t they? Knowing yourself; finally learning yourself.”

.

.
“Now, is this a question your answering, or do you need…us to answer your question?
.
ABLE RESPONSE
“? Cual es?”
.
“Ok…hmmm. Well, when I decide to take a bus, I already understand that certain bus stops don’t have restrooms. So…I don’t drink that much water, because then I’ll have to find a fast food establishment and practically beg to use the restroom. Which I don’t suppose is entirely the workers fault. Those kinds of decisions come from management. Still, to avoid it all, I don’t drink much water, because I do know myself in THAT sense. So let’s say I want a beer. I know it isn’t wise to drive or hang-out with people who don’t care…so I wouldn’t do it. So it doesn’t seem so bad. I just don’t know if this is the kind of thing to mention in one of the bigger groups.”
.
.
ABLE RESPONSE
.
“! Increible!”
.

.
“ I’m not sure who’s counseling who here…you make some interesting points. What did you school say when you presented this?”
.
“ The student government gave me the cold shoulder…they said sales is a forced technique and we’re really not supposed to give people choices. My way…meaning my presentation, makes people think, and now the Dean of the school has me on Academic Probation, and some made-up 3-day-suspension; for promoting college drinking.”
.

.
“Well Branch…this maybe one of the few times when what’s said here, stays here…doesn’t apply. You’ve done a little more than we can explain right now. Stay on your path and we’ll meet again next week. In the meantime you can e-mail either one of us if you need to. As a matter-of-fact, since your suspended, I’ve already filed the needed paperwork for a group field trip.”
.
“Sure! Where are we going?”
.
PAGE
.
“The local Art Gallery, where they are showcasing new talent; namely two African American males: D. Talbert and D. Pook. While we’re out we’ll have the place pressure washed.”
.
ABLE RESPONSE
.
“Please tell me we’ve got a better company than those last guys.”
.
PAGE
.
“Of course. I’ve done some research and there’s nothing but good things being said about one company. I’ve just been taking a second glance at their web-page…let’s see…ahhh, here it is…FORCE POWER WASHING.”
