Artist's Description

Built in 1894 –1895, the Lunenburg Academy, a functioning school, is an example of Nova Scotia’s 19th Century Academy system and represents the short and final “golden age” of Academy construction in New Brunswick. It is now an UNESCO Heritage Site. It’s the only intact 19th century Academy building surviving in Nova Scotia. Standing on top of “Gallows Hill”, an old execution spot, it sits beside an extensive old cemetery. The locals claim the building is haunted and ghosts have been heard and sighted. Oooooooo!
