A young boy (still wearing his school uniform) tending a little shop after coming home from school – not very enthusiastically! Interestingly, the little shop does not just offer water and other refreshing drinks, but is also a payment point for PAYNET, a service which offers all payments for different services and infrastructure (like telephone and natural gas) to be made in cash from one place. This service started in 2006, and by 2009 I saw this logo literally all over the country; it’s an interesting solution in a country which apparently lacks widespread electronic banking and still is largely a cash economy. Currently their website lists 53 different services the consumer can pay for via a single PAYNET terminal.

The whitewashed walls and light blue of the shop’s awning are intended to keep things cool (or provide an illusion of coolness, at least), but it was cool and rainy that day.
