Early September 2009 I spent three days in Cologne (Köln) for a little photography fun with the theme “Kölnisch Wasser” – not the fragrance kind but the real water kind!
See also my Kölnisch Wasser set on Flickr, or…
I found these huge blue pipes right on my first day in Cologne, but I did not immediately work out what they were there for (apart from the fact that they were very obviously transporting water, and, on further inspection, dumping it in the Rhine – but why?). Here the pipe goes down to let out the water right into the river.
(The title is derived from the text on one of the stickers on the pipe – but of course water does run easy when it’s going straight down…)
But I loved the weird contrast they made with the more usual parts of the city: buildings, trees and plants, people, and of course the river; I made some shots on the first day, and came back later for more.
