Istanbul is a city with a long and rich history, and its walls reflect this in many different ways:

  • from polished marble to crumbling brick
  • from medieval tiles in a mosque to tiles on the wall of a modern apartment building
  • from elegant trompe l ’oeil paintings to coarse grafitti
  • from decorative brick to brick-colored mortar
  • from slick perfection to endlessly repaired
  • from shadows of walls to shadows of walls on other walls
  • from various living creatures making those walls their home to causing them to crumble

Walls are technology. Walls are culture. Walls are art.

A week spent in Istanbul resulted in a rich (photographic) crop of walls, of which this calendar can give you no more than a taste, a small sample… (and there is more to come).

Enjoy it! Order it! Put Istanbul’s walls on your wall.
