A new time

The roasting desert sun beats down merciless onto the cracked open wounds of the

moaning soil beneath. The earth’s jaw has opened long ago in a silent cry for wet

relief. Ancient, giant trees witness the last of their century old history while being

brutally crippled and sold into slavery. No one hears their pleas of mercy as sawing

tools become unstoppable, ruthless in their desire to maim. Once life giving lakes

lie dried up like dormant victims. The last, precious drops got forced out of mother

earth’s womb without regret, leaving it violated and tortured by those feared human

hands.

Another time is coming.

Resurrection finally approaches, transforming the air into cool anticipation. The first,

heavenly droplets fall onto this desperate place, causing laughter and joy

everywhere they reach. Soon a festival of triumph and survival is celebrated by

young and old, rich and poor. In this last happy moment they all are united by their

ignorance to open their eyes and their arrogance not to consider what will follow

next. It leaves them unprepared and defenseless, a vulnerable and doomed

people. Their happy smiles form into screams of fearful terror when the celebrated

guest reveals her true face in an unexpected turn. Angry fire flashes shoot out of the

heavens, thunderous explosions roar across the earth, suffocating waves crash over

land and terrorizing tremors shake the breaking earth. Icy hails destroy the last of

each and every living human soul.

This time will be different.

Through the silence, invigorating dust slowly settles on the last reminders of this

human enemy. The air is clearing, creating a newborn atmosphere of peace and life

for Mother Nature’s friends. The waves calm down, now lovingly caressing the

exhausted mother’s skin. The signs of destruction will vanish but the scars from

this day will always remain. Sadly smiling at her victory she leans back and

observes. An inevitable war of unbalanced powers has begun. Its outcome has

been decided long ago.
