morbid fallacy - suicide is not a toy

(for Emile)

The ledge glares up at him.
He stares down at the shore,
A haven where pain and sorrow don’t go.
Fatal jump. Eternal peace. A resolution?

Madness asphyxiates him as he watches
The waves hit the jagged edge of doom
He tells himself in fright, as he stares into the night
“it’ll all be over soon”

He thinks of her. And
The anchor drops, insanity infects his chest
That is empty, and forever heavy,
Dragging the pull through the mud of tears.

The past love and its departure
Leave remnants of its scornful murder
The lies that she said line the sandy bed,
Bare, from rose and tomb.

He looks death in the eye
Who’s playin a game with his life.
His ghost awaits, beyond those pearly gates
To trade places with this dismal phantom.

Anger eliminates the suicide that plagues his mind.
He will choose a life of isolation to
Abolish her vanity and stabilise his sanity,
Bang the fortress from demonic devour.

A sense of worthlessness,
Hand in hand with nothingness,
Disguise his disdain, and numb the pain,
Culminate this morbid fallacy.

He steps away from the ledge
Cannot see that enticing shore,
This beautiful life, puts down the knife,
Fear surmounts Death once more.
