The Untold Story of How Christine Saved My Life (the first time)

I stared blankly at the tile. The emotional whirlpool tugged me, spinning fearful waves and shame filled undercurrents. This dark ocean grew from insecurity.

The razorblade in the corner glimmered with a solution. Certain end to this uncertain future. A certain end to the loss of hope.

The razor’s answer rushed. The water would guide life down the drain, pain with it. This small town would continue without notice, maybe a headline. The community would gossip. The college would council.

And Christine, Oh – she would be sad. She would mourn.

Suddenly through the steam, the vision of my friend was near. Her face wet with tears. She would miss me.

The darkness within took a blow – my dearest friend reached through the depths of my mind and pulled me from the devil’s lured place.

I put down the sharp answer. My Christine, she willed me alive another day.
