We were living on a sheep property out in the arid part of New South Wales, Australia. It was in the middle of one of the worst droughts in Australian history. It was hot and dry and there was a lot of red dust. Very near the house there was a beautiful Coolabah tree. I felt inspired to create a nursery poster for my little granddaughter and this became my interpretation of ‘Waltzing Matilda’, Australia’s best known national song and our unofficial national anthem.
I have four other versions:
Banjo Paterson words and Sam the Sheepdog
Banjo Paterson words and Gem the puppy
