Artist's Description

2009. B/W film, as is.

Chinese emperors one by one grasped power by raw force. Most of them emerged from ruthless low life. There was no rule by virtue of merit and ability. They ruled by militant means, trying to take all wealth of the nation, ready to murder any dissidents. These primitives said, “All the earth in the world belong to the emperor, and all the people on the earth belong to the emperor.”

Under their rule the country was a place Machiavellian tricks, rather than virtue and reason, flourished. Chinese lived in fear which killed their brain power. Science and social progress was out of question.

These walls walled the most remorseless murders and robbers in human history.

I seldom posted photo of these places, although they are easy subjects. I can’t help feel disgusting when I see them.
