Artist's Description

The late Dusty Springfield began her singing career with The Springfields in the early sixties. Her real name was Mary O’Brien. ‘I only want to be with you’, ‘You don’t have to say you love me’, ‘I just don’t know what to do with myself’, ‘Son of a preacher man’, were among her many hits.
Dusty made a comeback In 1987 with the Pet Shop Boys on their single ‘What have I done to deserve this?’ and performed it at the Brit Awards that year.
In 1994, she underwent surgery for a lump in her breast followed by chemotherapy and radiotherapy. She remained cancer free for four years, and died from a recurrence in March 1999. She was 59 years old.
Dusty’s style was unique, and she will always remain an iconic figure. This image was completed with charcoal and pastels.
Framed and poster prints, also canvas wraps available from bigemptywall.co.uk on request.
