A graceful, alert and unpredictable snake with a deadly poison. It is southern Africa’s largest poisonous snake.
This is on of the deadliest snakes in die world and should be avoided at all costs. If you come across one and retreat slowly and careully, the snake will do the same

Usually an overall olive-brown to grey.
Very nervous and quick to spread a narrow hood when threatened.
A coffin-shaped head.
Can move with up to a third of its body well off the ground.
Regularly basks in the same spot.
Active during the day.
