Arctotis cuprea – ASTERACEAE – Gousblom
A herbaceous perennial growing up to 90cm high.
The leaves are twice devided, grey below, smooth or rough above and the margins are rolled under.
The ray-florets are yellow above and red on the r3verse and the disc-florets are black and yellow.
The inner involucral-bracts are slightly woody and the outer involucral-bracts have pointed hairy appendages of varying length and shape.
Flowers September to October. Found in sandy soil in the Namakwaland Klipkoppe and Knersvlakte and southwards into the Cederberg.
