The Invisible Wharf

An ocean of blue
Broken by posts of brown;
Under skies of blue
Brings a puzzled frown.
Where has the wharf gone?
What ships did it dock?
I listen to the ocean’s song.
Oh, how I wish those posts could talk.
Were they pirate ships,
Or ships of war?
Tiny pleasure slips
Or explorer crafts,used no more?
Were they fishing boats,
Or rich man’s yachts?
Bearing men in fancy coats;
Or a midnight catch?
As I sit on the beach and ponder,
The invisible wharf, with stories old;
And I have to wonder,
Will the tales ever be told?
