Crossing the bridge, the cool wind came,
Carrying the mist of the Thames.
Tower Bridge is a combined bascule and suspension bridge in London, England, over the River Thames. It is close to the Tower of London, which gives it its name. It has become an iconic symbol of London. (Source: Wikipedia)
Tower bridge first opened on June 30 1894. The suspension was painted red, white and blue for Queen Elizabeth II’s silver jubilee. It spans between the London Borough of Tower Hamlets at the north end and the district of Bermondsey in the London Borough of Southwark.
This was an image I had included in my London calendar which I did not have displayed in public before but now I’ve decided to show it.
Despite the blue sky and sunshine this day was in fact VERY cold, but it was enjoyable anyways. Taken with an Olympus FE-340 on January 31, 2009. Tower Bridge; London, United Kingdom. During this period there were a lot of activities going on for Chinese New Year; as well a lot of promotion going for the Shanghai Expo. On this day I was visiting City Hall, where there were several posters featuring the different pavilions for the Expo.
