It’s been many years of wanting and finally doing a painting in hand made egg tempera (each day made with fresh egg yoke and pigment) and authentic 23kt gold leaf. I came up with the famed “Madonna and Child” originally done by one of my favorite iconic artist’s, Russian Byzantine Monk “Rublev” to check out other great works by this artist see here;*http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andrei_RublevI *, This painting was painstakingly built up where the 23kt gold is laid. The border took approximately 30 hours to lay and paint culminating in a total of 70 hours to complete the entire painting. In love with Swarovski crystals there are 103 mini crystals embedded in the halo and the Madonna’s head-dress. The measurement of the completed painting is 11×14, on hardwood.
