Artist's Description

In Banff National Park, Alberta, Canada, the Parks Service is constructing these overpasses to provide a safe way for wildlife to cross the highway. Being protected apparently gives animals a false sense of security and it’s hoped that this will add to their safety as well as avoid vehicle accidents. So far, it appears that elk have no problem using them, but other animals are adapting more slowly.
Otherwise, the view here is towards the town of Banff,, in between ridges of the Rocky Mountains. We had just come out of Kootenay National Park and entered Banff NP, and we’re going south on a rather rainy day in summer.
