Artist's Description

Butchart’s Gardens are located just a short distance from Victoria, Vancouver Island, near the village of Brentwood Bay. Since they were started by Jennie Butchart in 1904, on the site of her husband’s worked-out limestone quarry, they have become one of the most beautiful set of gardens anywhere in the world. This view is of the Sunken Garden, created at the bottom of the largest quarry pit. The gardens are a National Historic Site of Canada.
They are easily visited from Victoria, by car, taxi, many different tour buses, cycling or even by water from Saanich Inlet. They’re open all year, and host hundreds of thousands of tourists every year.
