Artist's Description

Dear Redbubble Community and Moderators,

I do not mean to offend anyone and I will remove this photo if it is a problem, please just let me know.

I honestly just want to share this for the women out there who are struggling medically with endometriosis. This was taken during my Laparoscopy surgery in 2007, courtesy of Folsom Surgery Center in Folsom, California. Currently, I have been battling a series of medical maladies and felt moved to put make this photo public. My point is simple. I want anyone women who thinks they have been diagnosed with endometriosis, to do whatever medically or otherwise that would benefit them to help prevent endometriosis from getting out of control. This was an unknown to me until 2007. I am happy to provide whatever support anyone would need here.

I was asked to participate in research study from Juneau Biosciences who is doing research and a study on women who have been diagnosed with endometrosis. That was another reason that I posted this photo.

Taken from wikepedia, "Endometriosis (from endo, “inside”, and metra, “womb”) is a medical condition in women in which endometrial cells are deposited in areas outside the uterine cavity. The uterine cavity is lined by endometrial cells, which are under the influence of female hormones. Endometrial cells deposited in areas outside the uterus (endometriosis) continue to be influenced by these hormonal changes and respond similarly as do those cells found inside the uterus. Symptoms often exacerbate in time with the menstrual cycle.

Endometriosis is typically seen during the reproductive years; it has been estimated that it occurs in roughly 5% to 10% of women.1 Symptoms depend on the site of implantation. Its main but not universal symptom is pelvic pain in various manifestations. Endometriosis is a common finding in women with infertility."
