Artist's Description

This was one of my very first pictures taken of me by my dad, when I was in the orphanage in Saigon, during the South Vietnam War, 1965. Sister Robert spoke French to me, so I learned a little French before I learned English but I have no memory of this.

As I understand, the ratio of Catholic sisters to babies was about 30:1 so they most certainly had their job cut out for them and took very good care of us with the limited resources they had. Now, adopting from Vietnam is extremely difficult as our friends, the Vanderstoeps are quickly discovering.
