My Life, a Play

Would you like to buy a ticket?
My life is on display
it’s not showing for the faint of heart,
but it runs all night and day.

What kind of play you may ask?
A drama of all kinds,
I promise nary a dull moment
for many stories intertwine.

The drama never wanes
the costumes all have stains
the theater’s empty every night
No audience to hear my plight.

My lonely soliloquy
My time to shine,
My life’s a play
With forgotten lines

Stage right hear fights and yelling,
Stage left holds deep disgust,
And I ask in the back of the angry cast,
Is there anyone I can trust?

My lonely soliloquy,
my time to shine,
my life’s a play
with forgotten lines

Why me? Why me?
My life’s a play.
Can I quit then?
Tell me.
Or do I have to stay?
The poison is always taken,
The princess never wakens,
My lonely soliloquy.
