From the wagon, a momentary fall

So long since we’ve been together

that I forget how to appreciate your sweetness,
as warmly mocking as it is.
I draw from you secrets:
how to see and behave,
react and control,
vitalise those demons that sleep in my soul
drawing nutrition from wilder senses.
That first kiss from you dilates my pupils,
prickles hair on my body, leaves a taste
in my mouth like sex, victory,
the blood of fresh kill.
And now with you as part of me
the old familiar hunger rises to the surface
rippling death across my cerebellum and changing
the context of my heart’s pumped delusions.
Provocation awaits within you.
I fear it.
I fear you.
I fear me, but
I love you
although I did not miss you for one moment
because I knew that within my nature
we would always meet again.

From the wagon, a momentary fall

Artist's Description

I used to drink, and I used to stop, and then I used to start again. Like any addiction, so sweet, yet so defeating. Here is my ode to alcohol( or any addiciton we may find)
