What does recognition do?

In my case it makes me feel good. It is indeed a source of satisfaction to feel that other individuals derive some “good” from my photographic pursuits. It is sometimes easy to say “I only need to please myself”. While that may often apply, it should not preclude allowing, or even seeking, to provide some kind of pleasure, joy, or interest for someone else. I am beginning to see that redbubble is a decent venue for sharing expression via my art, and sharing the appreciation of others that may come in various forms of feedback. (Now if redbubble could do a better marketing job for all of our art, we could all join in a global chorus of appreciation!)

The “nudge” to write this bit, is a nice Feature today of me and my recent work Mountain Revelation. As I proceeded to follow the “news” to the Mountains and Mountains Light Group, I was surprised to see another of my photos also currently featured! I don’t know if I knew that, but I don’t see any evidence that I had thanked or acknowledged the honor. So here I am to make sure I express my appreciation somewhere, for these Features. It is especially gratifying to have this recognition coming from this group of professional level photographers who are so good at the same subjects that I love so much. Mountains, and the valleys, canyons, and deserts between them, rank high in my photographic desires. But I should also clarify that any group I join, I do so because of the high-line examples of the people already part of the group. So, today this thank you, originally specifically aimed, needs to really go to all the fine and friendly artists that participate here. Yes, YOU!
