The Gift

From the river of darkness I surfaced
with an overwhelming feeling of dread
my eyes not ready to be wide open,
reluctantly with heavy lids peered on ahead,
trying to find a glimmer of light
within the rocks along the shores,
in fear of seeing only shadows,
miraculously glimpsed a whole lot more,
For standing on the sand before me
was an Angel with a smile so bright,
with her wings outstretched so fully,
I thought she was about to take flight,
Then with no words actually spoken,
She told me of her plans to never leave
That in my darkest times she was beside me
Even though I may find it hard to believe,
I must trust that even when I cannot see her
She would never leave me alone in rocky seas,
even when the winds blow so hard,
that hurricanes of pain bring me to my knees,
She would be right there to lift me up,
enfolding me in her wings so comforting and warm,
and there safe inside her loving embrace,
she would keep me until I weathered out the storm..
as I pondered in my mind the question of ‘why me’,
to my surprise a hand appeared out of the sky
and God’s deep voice spoke to my soul,
“you are a child of mine, and I love you ,that is why,
you are special and you play a part in the bigger plan,
so, like all my kids, at Birth, you were assigned an Angel,
to have their presence in your life, you just need to understand,
you are loved no matter how often you think you’ve failed,
for with mistakes lessons are learned, and are forgiven,
all you have to do is LOVE, with all your heart and soul,
your Angel will help light the way, so,you’ll know life’s worth living.
