Artist's Description

This exotic looking flower grows wild in fields and meadows and its nectar is a favorite food of fritlliary butterflies and also attracts gold finches. I added a heavily textured background to accentuate the interesting form of the plant. The title derives from a poem, The Spear Thistle by John Clare.
