Through dawn’s soft mist
the early light
brings golden glowing beams.
A vision forms
of holy might,
a horse of silver dreams.
So softly does he track the earth,
‘cross morning’s dew drenched grass
and in his wake, the faerie lights
shine – where his hooves do pass.
A piercing ray
breaks through the trees,
shaped like a glowing horn,
springs from his noble forehead proud
white Gypsy horse
or mystic Unicorn?
(by Louise Green 2010)
The latest work which was the last piece I finished for my exhibition in October 2010, currently running until Oct 16th.
Elyne Mitchell’s series of books on the Silver Brumby kept me enchanted as a child & I still read them to this day. I wanted to paint a silver Gypsy horse to represent these special memories of those stories of which many of you also have.
The background is taken from my photo “Morning’s Magic” of our farm in the early morning mist & ghostly eucalyptus trees looking up from the house.
A soft misty aura envelopes the horse & a trail of faerie lights follow in his hooves as he floats over the soft earth.
Whilst painting this magical work of a silver Gypsy horse & the golden beams of light coming through, it was almost as if the painting took on its own form, & the shafts of light behind him make him appear as a vision of a Unicorn.
You decide which………
