Faithful Father

No shoes on my weary feet…I lay naked in my ugly sin.
All joy had gone away from me…I had lost my peace within.
Farther than I had wanted go…Clothed in such filthy rags.
I wonder if my Father will know me? Will He turn His back?
I will arise and go to my Father…Away from this sin I am in.
For even in my Father’s house…The servants are fed of Him.
I am cold and hungry, sorely undone…I am at my lowest low.
I will offer myself as His servant…There’s no other place to go.
In my despair I looked towards home…On my knees I’ll beg for help.
I wonder if He can help me now…For I can hardly forgive myself.
But Lo! I see my Beloved Father…Oh it seems He beckons to me.
He’s running, arms open wide! Tears are streaming down His cheek.
He appears to be happy to see me! Oh I thought to be turned away.
His arms are reaching for me! Crying, My child has come home this day!
He clothed me in the best of robes…He fed me as though I were a King!
My sinful, willful past forgiven…My Faithful Father never gave up on me!
