Cloak of Misery

You wear that dated cloak of misery…pulled ever so tight across your human needing;
A shield of rusty armor , forged painfully in mistrust at the devilry of another human being.
Your eyes in frantic, constant wonder…look about you hauntedly too and fro;
In case you are encompassed unknowingly… by someone who surely bears bad seed to sow.
Your ears listen for farce and fable, half truths is what you think you know you will hear;
Your mind makes up and fills in the spaces…when you know the truth was evident and clear.
It’s been long you’ve been hidden there behind you, peering at the world in your despair;
What must need to happen, to make your man’s heart strong again, your spirit once again care?
Your mistrust eats away at the breath of life…yet you hold this mistrust as though it were a long,lost lover;
If you embrace to your being this demon from your past…you will never again hold tight another.
