Isle of Patmos

John was exiled to the Isle of Patmos,
An island ten miles long and six miles wide…
John… who walked along with Jesus,
who watched Him live and watched Him die.

Placed on an island of great bareness,
in the middle of the Aegean sea…
Tucked away from life as he knew it,
so alone, knowing not what to think.

Solitude was John’s companion,
but silence earned him an ear to hear…
In this place God revealed Himself
diminishing John’s worldly fear.

Often we find ourselves in similar place,
exiled in the fears and worries of this world…
Maybe this place is our own Isle of Patmos,
where silence gives ear to the wisdom of our Lord.

Artist's Description

I reckon sometimes we go through things in our lives where God’s voice is the only sound we need to hear.
