I Am That Woman

She stood weeping behind this man called Jesus,
knowing a great desire to be near, but to hide…
She fell to her knees with not a word to be spoken,
Surely afraid that she would somehow be denied.

With heart overwhelmed she bowed her head low,
Washed His feet with her tears and her hair…
Anointed Him with ointment from an alabster box,
Kissed His beautiful feet as all around just stared.

The Pharisee looked on with furrowed brow,
Thinking Jesus should know who this woman is…
If this man Jesus is who He professes to be,
He would know she is a woman of great sin.

I am that woman who seeks this same Jesus,
I am she who is unworthy to speak His name…
And I too bow low in the presence of His Holiness,
Seeking forgiveness for the sins of my day.

I am that woman whom the world would cast away,
Unable to look beyond my faults and see my need…
But Jesus loved her whom the people judged,
It is this same Jesus who loves even me! =)
