The Woman

Her deep brown eyes penetrate into mine
Hiding sorrow under heavy lids,
Like the moon, she is waning.
And then I watch her stand
In her cavern of beauty once more
And I witness, her gentleness
When at last she falls asleep.
Now she seems to me to be so far away
She has stolen my heart!

Eyes reflecting the amber hues of the Autumn leaves,
I wait silently for their warm reply
But no longer is her heart welcoming.

Her eyes reflect those amber hues
And as the Autumn leaves fall from the trees
They fall from my gaze & move away
Leading her stare to another path.
Turning,
I saw her eyes reflecting in anothers
The amber hues of Autumn leaves.

But to me, now, they are blackened
As Winter haunts those eyes,
And they turn from me
Only to melt with Springs thaw,
In Winter they stand together
As if it were Spring
Turning love into art
I watch their lovers tryst
I try & reclaim my lost heart.

Yet I see Spring is alive & still living within her
Whilst my heart is cloaked in Autumns decay –
Loves tangled breath is in her hair
Her mind dances with loves delight
Whilst mine is clouded with loves despair.

Who could predict such an outcome from the day that I fell
So now, it has passed, what great loves await us!
And how, now, shall we spend our hours
For now we are free to follow our souls
According to all those lost poets,
True love can never be lost,
So how is it that I bid you farewell.
