To the Lost

Child in red, quiet child, sad child of lost days!
Come return to me,
Help me forget the heartlessness of old ways.
Let your new eyes stare out upon the wonderous tide;
Let the storms pass, & return to me with arms open wide,
For once you lived a short life of ruin untold
And from you was stolen the chance to grow old
Instead you returned to the waves of the sea,
And I can hear your voice hidden in that sea spray melody.
For we are all controlled by mans heathen fate
And instead of love, we are defiled by hate
And you lived a life of just months & days
Yet your eternal beauty wanders
Where, though, I cannot say.
Come back to me child & stay not so still
Clad in soft pink flesh, a form that I can feel
Sad this longing – but for you I crave
Come back & resurrect
Like the Saviour who was not bound by the grave.
But my Saviour now watches those mortals
Denied of such a fate
If only I could penetrate that barrier
And hear the words men long to know.
If I could be one step closer
To the great unknown.
Come return to me, help me forget the heartlessness of old ways
Child in gold, lonely child, sad child of lost days.
