The Seed's Prophecy

Answers can speak for themselves
just watch them flutter along the wet tongued tips
of liars and soothsayers all crying,
“hush now, the drought will drown us all”.

Can it?

It’s the doubt that tended to flood our very eyes
our tears that provoked the rain.

People drew signs in the land
their children’s names given to the soil
beautiful signatures to ward off an unknown danger.

Prayers tainted the tips of our words
with salt and hidden meaning,
seeds planted in a dry land.

We can only wait for the earth
to give birth to our secrets.
