A Dream

There was a box
Open and empty
On a wooden floor.
The soft patter of small feet
Echoed in the empty hall.
It was night
But the sky held light
A dark and beautiful light
Indigo
And just for me.
I tore myself
And patched myself
Together.
I bled
And died.
My rebirth was beautiful.
I cried..
And my tears filled that wooden box
Filled it like the darkest ocean.
So deep, so deep.
I drowned
And caught my breath back.
It was mine.

Artist's Description

When I woke up from that dream, I was silent for the longest time. Just listening to my breath, staring at nothing at all. All I could think was that “it was mine”, whatever “it” was. It was beautiful.
