Artist's Description

Santorini, as we see it today, is the result of one of the largest volcanic eruptions in recorded history. As such, the sand is actually pulverized lava rock. It results in this black color. This was taken in the little town of Perivolos on the southeast side of the island. The water was crystal clear and sand warm and comfortable to walk on.
