Artist's Description

Golden sand

I stay in the middle of roar
In the middle of landscape
Holding on my hand
Grains from golden sand

How many still creeping
Sinks through fingers
Oo, when can I sweep
When can I sweep them

Can I surrender
Grasp them for myself
Oo God, can I surrender
One from them from the trap

Thousands of delicately carved spires rise in brilliant color from the amphitheaters of Bryce Canyon National Park. Millions of years of wind, water and geologic mayhem have shaped and etched the pink cliffs at Bryce, which isn’t actually a canyon but the eastern slope of the Paunsaguant Plateau.
My first look to Bryce Canyon was just so dramatic, as rows of pine trees veil the color and grandeur of the canyon until I reached the rim. Here the brilliant hues come alive – especially with the rising and setting of the sun. Visitors may take a 37-mile round-trip drive to Bryce Canyon’s 15 most popular viewpoints. Closer inspection of the park reveals horseshoe-shape amphitheaters, views of Utah, Arizona, and New Mexico, as well as distinct ecological zones demarcated by changes in elevation.
