Artist's Description

This is part of a five photo series of a wolf hunt I caught with my camera while at Hayden Valley in Yellowstone National Park.

These images are not top quality. It was early evening, getting dark, the wolves were close to a 1/2 mile away, I shot with a 500mm zoom at ISO 3200. With all that said these shots are not clear and rather noisy. Nevertheless, it was exciting to have captured this event.

PART 2
In this image you can see that the wolf pack has begun the attack. They have separated the herd and have thier eye on a elk calf.

The elk ran back and forth for quite some time. The wolves stayed on them like white on rice. In time the elk went over a hill into a different part of the valley. I could no longer see what was going on. We waited a while to see if the action would come back our way. It didn’t, so we packed up and moved further down the valley.
