Artist's Description

The King Louis XVI Statue that sits outside of Jefferson County Courthouse in downtown Louisville turned 175 years old in 2004. The statue, commissioned by his daughter Marie-Therese and sculpted by Achille-Joseph Valois, stands three and one half meters tall and weighs nine tons. It was given to the city of Louisville by one of its sister cities Montpellier in France.
