Dismantled

Don’t break my heart
He laughed and said
With a smile
“I wouldn’t dare”
She let out a
Sigh of relief
And began steadily
To breath
Until suction
Suspended disbelief
He lied through
His teeth
Hissed broken promises
Through his callus throat
Forked tongue bore
Back reared
Ready to pounce and kill
Broken flowers
Clipped wings
Pitiless spittle
She lies bare boned
Shivering alone
In a tiny ball
In one dark corner
Of an even darker room
Closed curtains
She won’t let
The light break through
For fear it would
Burn and sizzle
Her delicate flesh
Just like his fork tongue
Bled her heart dry
And then spewed it
Onto where she lies

Dismantled
