Artist's Description

I went walking Easter morning and spied this tranquil scene of a heron contemplating the Burnaby cityscape.

Artist’s Commentary:
In composing this shot, I was attracted by the heron as he seemed to be enjoying the view as I was enjoying the view of him enjoying the view. I found myself contemplating the contrast of city and nature. In post production, I chose to play up contrasts to expand upon that theme.

On another note, Burnaby, BC is one of the most beautiful places on earth. There are many natural parks, numerous lakes, and trees everywhere. I delight at being able to drive a few minutes from my high-rise and immerse myself in nature.

I feel a sense of sadness for the concrete cities. A lot of green space has been lost to make room for us. I wonder when our population explosion will end.

I hope that this piece will bring a sense of tranquility to your home.
