Artist's Description

This beautiful little bird is called a Cordon Bleu Finch. The rosy cheeks and brown head let us know she is a female. I was completely smitten with her. Isn’t it astounding how much beauty there is in nature?

Artist’s Commentary:
I shot this with some friends in the Bloedel Conservatory in Vancouver, BC. They boast a wide assortment of tropical birds and flowers. When composing the shot, I wanted a narrow DoF so the face and chest feathers were in focus but the rest of the shot was pleasingly blurred. I processed this in Photoshop with multiple layers and textures to give it the light airy slightly distressed feel I was going for.
