Covetous

A hamlet lives harmoniously
Spun loosely into the earth of a cul-de-sac
__________________________________________________________________

Morning light bugles reverie
Hand’s join together in the daily chores
Voices trill; the earth’s riches freely fall into rush baskets
A river’s wisdom flows
tossing its life lines into waiting hands
feeding of itself not for a day but for life
Evening meals tango with tongues
Night skies dance their tales
Humanity sings along

She arrives
Fair and beguiling
Bruised beautifully
Seducing
__________________________________________________________________

Humanity trips
slicing off at the knees
desiring her; each for their own
marching to the open end
spreading like a disease

Murdering unity
Pillaging spoils
Possessing every patch of green
Building edifices to reach the coveted outer limits

Wanting, wanting; looping
Chasing with cupped hands
that never catch every thing
nor tire from the pursuit

Forlorn in the Forgetting
Forever wanting to fill with more.
