Art Deco Mirror

I noticed her veins
popping through her translucent skin

In the quiet of a personal moment
She’d not noticed I’d seen her face – aghast
at the treacherous art deco mirror

I noted her immediate confusion
and the tear that fell to the floor
that turned to a solitary horror film

I noticed her tummy
stunning with the roundness of a woman

In the quiet of a personal moment
I daydreamed of accepting her
but always woke – to a treacherous art deco mirror

I noted her longing for days of youth
and the anguish that dripped to the floor
that turned her memory inside out

I noticed her greys
sprouting through her sable locks

In the quiet of a fuck it to death moment
and a resolve of so be it
she took the treacherous art deco mirror

Placed it inside a trunk
locked it with a key
took the key on a walk to alchemy pier
and threw her past reflection
into the forgiving sea
